Reading Room Settings

Open Reading Room > Settings to control organization or library behaviour that applies across reading-room reservations and sessions.

Review the visible options for booking window, minimum or maximum duration, active-reservation limit, walk-in policy, cancellation deadline, paid use, and other enabled controls. Library overrides should be used only when that branch genuinely operates differently from the organization default.

Save remains disabled until a normalized setting changes. Review active reservations before tightening a rule that could affect future member actions.

Do And Don'ts

  • Do document why a library override is necessary.
  • Do test the member reservation flow after policy changes.
  • Don't change settings solely to repair one reservation.
  • Don't override Membership Plan access from this page.

FAQ

Do Reading Room settings replace Membership Plan access?

No. Both the room policy and the member's Membership Plan must permit the action.

Settings use aligned columns on wider screens and stack in narrow windows. Long switch labels wrap within their column. Add closure and Save settings stay aligned with the start of the working area; Save settings remains disabled until a setting changes. Scroll down to reach the closure list and save action on shorter screens.
