Set up your library workspace

After an organization administrator signs in for the first time, Libcodesk asks five short questions about the library. This setup is the same in the Libcodesk WebApp, Cloud setup, and Local setup.

The questions cover the library type, lending, managed materials, reading-room use, and visitor tracking. The answers help Libcodesk present the most relevant tools first. They do not remove records, change license access, or replace Membership Plan borrowing rules.

Complete the setup

  1. Choose the type of library.
  2. Confirm whether members borrow items.
  3. Select all material types the library manages.
  4. Confirm whether the library operates a reading room.
  5. Confirm whether visitors are tracked, then choose Finish setup.

Progress is saved between steps. Use Back to review an answer. Choose Skip and configure manually to apply safe basic defaults and open the dashboard; the setup will not keep appearing after it is skipped.

In a narrow window, the setup choices scroll independently while the visible action area centers a smaller Skip and configure manually action above equal-size Back and Continue buttons. You can complete every step without enlarging the window.

Who sees it?

Only an organization administrator can complete or skip this tenant-wide setup. Staff members and members do not see it. A completed organization is taken directly to its normal workspace on later sign-ins.

Do and don't

  • Do choose every material type currently managed by the organization.
  • Do use the same answers for Cloud and Local setup when they represent the same working practice.
  • Don't use this setup to define loan limits, fines, renewal limits, or collection access. Configure those in Membership Plans and circulation policies.
  • Don't expect an answer to delete or permanently disable a module. It only adjusts the initial workspace emphasis.

Troubleshooting

If a step cannot be saved, check the connection in a Cloud setup and try again. In a Local setup, confirm the database is available. Your current answers remain visible so you can retry without starting again.

FAQ

Can I skip the questions?

Will this change existing membership plans?

No. Membership Plan limits and access rules remain authoritative.

Why do I not see the setup?

It appears only to an organization administrator when the organization has not completed or skipped Library DNA setup.
