OPAC Overview

Libcodesk OPAC is the signed-in member catalogue for discovering library items and managing member services. The WebApp and Standalone app use the same organization, library, catalogue, account, loan, hold, notification, and Membership Plan rules. Device-specific actions appear only where they are safe and supported.

Before you start

You need the OPAC address or Standalone app supplied by your library and an active member account. Sign in with the identifier accepted by your library and your password. If the account belongs to more than one permitted member profile, select the correct profile before continuing.

The header shows the organization and the active library selector. Choose All libraries to browse every library available to the account or choose one branch to scope discovery and search.

Main navigation

The Guide follows the same four destinations shown in OPAC:

• Home — browse current discovery rows and open Catalogue Details.
• Search — run quick or advanced catalogue searches and reuse Saved Searches.
• Account — review membership information, Current Loans, Holds, Transaction History, and Loan History.
• More — open digital books, Library Card, library information, notifications, reading lists, member services, contact information, diagnostics, and Logout when those options are available.

On narrow screens, navigation labels may be hidden to preserve space, but the icons remain in the same order. Focused Account views retain this bottom navigation and provide a back arrow.

Essential workflows

• Review a title, its ratings, copies, libraries, locations, availability, and actions on Catalogue Details.
• Renew eligible items under Current Loans and monitor reservations under Holds.
• Borrow, read, listen to, or securely cache permitted content through the Digital Library.
• Review reminders and delivery preferences under Notifications.

Access and privacy

Visible actions are recalculated using current member status, Membership Plan, collection access, selected library, item state, and library policy. OPAC does not reveal another member's private circulation data.

If authentication expires, OPAC clears the stale session and returns immediately to Sign in. The Standalone app also removes protected offline digital content belonging to that expired session.

WebApp and Standalone app differences

Both surfaces provide catalogue and account workflows. Libcodesk WebApp can open supported documents and audio in its protected reader or player when the member has an active entitlement. The Standalone app also supports protected reading and listening and may keep eligible content available in its encrypted offline cache. Download appears only when the library explicitly permits it.
